Titans Coaching Team 2020-21

Titans Coaching Team 2020-21

The Ellesmere College Titans Executive Committee are excited and pleased to formally announce the following coaching appointments for the up and coming 2020/21 swim season.

After an exhaustive and challenging recruitment process, the Executive Committee alongside Director of Swimming, Alan Bircher can confirm the following appointments have been offered and accepted.

Amanda Wetherell: Performance Coach Age Development

Danny Proffitt: Performance Coach Age Performance

The Ellesmere College Titans Executive Committee would like to thank all of those coaches who expressed an interest and/or applied for the above positions. We would also like to thank Marc Forster as one of our outgoing coaches for his hard work and dedication over the last 4 years.  In addition, we would like to wish Marc well for the future and hope that we will have the opportunity to see him again at future competitions- whenever they may be.

The Executive Committee would also like to express their gratitude to the members of Ellesmere College Titans for their patience during this recruitment process.

During the recent and on-going pandemic, it has been, understandably, a de-stabilising and concerning time for all and regarding a return to training, the welfare of all concerned has been at the forefront of the Committee’s mind.

However, we can all look forward to the new swim season and I’m sure you will take the opportunity to individually pass on your well wishes to Amanda and Danny. Both will be in their respective positions as from the 1st September 2020.

It is anticipated that the handbooks for the coming season will be sent out via email on or around the 20th July 2020.

Thank you.

Introduction to the Coach’s.

Danny Proffitt

My name is Danny Proffitt I have been coaching for nearly 10 years after retiring from my own swimming career, swimming has been my life and I very much love everything to do with the sport and couldn’t be happier working with the Titans. I have previously been coaching the Age development squad for the past four years and it has been my pleasure to assist some of the best young talent in the country go on to become National medallist’s year after year. I was overcome to find out that I had been selected to become the new squad coach for Neptune group. I am extremely happy to be a part of the Ellesmere College Titan programme for the upcoming season. The coaching team has already started making preparations and bouncing ideas around to help continue and develop on the major success of the programme and the athletes that have worked so hard to make a dream become a reality. During the lockdown period and gap away from pools the swimmers have shown just how dedicated and determined they are to keep themselves in the best shape possible for when pools open again and it has shown me just what our swimmers are prepared to do to reach their goals. I am very much looking forward to getting back into it and coaching these fantastic athletes in the near future.

Amanda Wetherell

A little about me, I am joining from a Welsh performance swimming club where I was part of the Swim Wales coach performance pathway. Prior to this I was a development coach at the City of Glasgow swim team and also worked as a sports therapist for the Glasgow Warriors Pro14 Rugby team. I have a BSC Hons in fitness and health and I am a qualified weights instructor and Pilates teacher. I am excited to join the Ellesmere College Titans coaching team and help develop the next generation of Titans swimmers
